Who is behind ELEMENT?
Meet
Geraldine Arroyave
I’m Geraldine Arroyave, a Spanish teacher and poet from Medellín, Colombia, and the founder of ELEMENT. For me, language is not just a tool, but a meeting place. This thoughtful approach shapes every ELEMENT class: we teach with attention to detail, respect for the learning process, and a caring style of support. Art and culture are also essential parts of our methodology. I truly hope you have the best learning experience of your life discovering Spanish with us. Pedagogical pillars of ELEMENT
ELEMENT is based on these four pillars. They are not taught as theory: they are experienced.

Fire: the voice
At ELEMENT, speaking and expressing yourself is an act of liberation. We create spaces for mindful conversation. Fire represents the drive to speak, even with mistakes. First the voice, then the correction.

Water: the listening
At ELEMENT, it is essential to understand, flow, and connect listening comprehension with slow and empathetic listening. We suggest everyday and literary dialogues, in which water as a symbol teaches us that language is also received, not just produced.

Air: thought
At ELEMENT, it is very important to structure without rigidity, to guide with a clear, light, and functional grammar. We offer simple and human explanations and think of the Spanish language as a flexible system where the air organizes, but does not weigh: grammar supports meaning, it does not make it heavy.

The land: the living word
At ELEMENT, the experience of inhabiting the language sometimes unfolds in brief, free, and creative writing, as literary reading is accessible for reflecting on culture, travel, and everyday life. The land is what remains: the language integrated into real life.
